Terms in plain steel

No small print games. Five things worth saying once, clearly.

This is a catalogue

Nothing on this site is an offer of sale. Descriptions, photographs and prices here describe what we make; the sale itself happens on the listing at our retail partner, under their terms. Where this site and the live listing disagree about price, stock or what is in the carton, the listing is right and we are out of date.

The bench notes are notes

They are what we have learned casting this hardware and watching it get installed. They are not an engineering assessment of your beam, your frame or your ground, and they cannot be, because we have not seen any of it. Where the notes quote a published figure we say who published it, so you can go and read the source.

Installation is yours

The wood, the fixings, the anchoring and the ground under the swing are the parts we have no control over, and they are where backyard swings actually fail. Check the lumber, drill dry sound wood, put a wrench on everything each spring, and keep an eye on the ground clear front and back.

Load figures

Any capacity figure we repeat is a manufacturer figure for a casting on a test rig, quoted as attribution. It is not a rating for an installed swing and no standard sets one. Read what the numbers mean before you lean on a number from any catalogue, including this one.

What is ours

The text, the photographs and the drawings on this site belong to the workshop. Quote a paragraph with a link if it is useful to you. Do not lift a shelf wholesale onto another catalogue.
